I have finished translation and interpreting studies at the University of Constantine the Philosopher in Nitra in 2009 and since then I have worked for Nation´s Memory Institute in Bratislava as a Coordinator of an international Memory of Nations project. My work as well as my hobby became interviewing witnesses of former totalitarian regimes (Nazism and Stalinism), writing life stories of these people, translating them into English and publishing on the internet sites (www.memoryofnations.eu). I have become active in the civic association Post Bellum SR – (www.postbellum.cz) and I enjoy gathering special messages of democracy and freedom for further generations.
In August 2011 I got married to Lukas Spevak and in July 2012 our son – Lukas junior was born. Nowadays I am on a maternity leave, although still working on the Memory of Nations project. I am also teaching English in one company, where my clients are adults in need of “better English”.
There is no day when I wouldn´t be thankful for all the experiences and huge (not only English) help I got at Xavier. It has greatly influenced my life and I will never stop to appreciate the opportunity to be a global outreach student, a student at Xavier. The school year 2002/03 has changed my life to the better and the example of teachers like Mr. Borchard, Ms. Radcliff or Mr. Mauthe inspired me in many ways.
